Do you wish you had asked your family elders more questions before they passed?
Do you wish you had captured their stories?
Do you wonder about their resilience that made it possible for you to exist?
If you have ever asked yourself these questions, The Ruby & Calvin Fletcher African American History Museum invites you to join our new virtual genealogy workshop series Curiosity Heals starting January 2026. Sessions will guide participants through the healing process of researching, relating, documenting, and honoring their ancestors.
Over the course of six, ninety-minute weekly sessions, participants will construct a family tree, conduct an oral history, learn research techniques utilizing digital archives and apply their family legacy within a historical context.
Research fuels storytelling. To bring family history to life, participants will document their findings by crafting short narrative pieces. In class time is provided for writing, and optional sharing.
This is a pilot program and offered at an introductory rate of $30, just $5 per session!
Weekly sessions starting Friday, January 16th through February 27th at 1 PM EST. All sessions required.
